Biocon has signed a licence agreement with Janssen Sciences Ireland to enable the commercialisation of Yesintek, its proposed biosimilar to Stelara (ustekinumab), in Australia, Brazil, China, Hong Kong, Israel, Mexico, New Zealand, South Korea and Kazakhstan, with immediate effect.
The agreement builds on the company’s previously announced agreements with Janssen, which secured market entry dates for Yesintek in the US, Europe, the UK, Canada and Japan.
According to Biocon, the additional market entry rights for biosimilar ustekinumab will allow it to offer an affordable and effective treatment option for patients affected by autoimmune diseases in these markets.
Yesintek is a human interleukin-12 and -23 antagonist that disrupts IL-12 and IL-23-mediated signalling in immune-mediated diseases. It has been approved for the treatment of Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, plaque psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.
The reference brand, Stelara, recorded worldwide sales of $6.08 billion in 2025, according to Johnson & Johnson’s reported 2025 sales.
